War Memorials of Wolverhampton

This site is created for the interest of all those who, like me, feel we owe a debt to the fallen of the Great War and all other armed conflicts. It is further intended to raise awareness of memorials, which are sadly often neglected or worse vandalised. I welcome comment from anyone who wishes to give it and I hope one day to catalogue and research all of the town's memorials.
I respectfully dedicate this site to the memory of all the men and women of Wolverhampton who have lost their lives or their loved ones as a result of armed conflict. It is further dedicated to my Grandfather, Charles William Haynes who joined the King's Shropshire Light Infantry in 1916 and fought with them and the Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment from 1916 until the end of the war.

I only wish I had learned more from him while I had the opportunity.
Colin Haynes
The research for this project has been conducted partly using archives in the custody of the Wolverhampton Central Library Archives and Local Studies Unit. Some of the images are taken from contemporary issues of the town's newspaper, the Wolverhampton Express and Star, and their origin is hereby formally acknowledged. Unless otherwise stated - all photographs were taken by myself and are copyright. Rights to use these images are granted at my discretion alone.
This site is split into sections. I hope you can find time to visit them all.
